Helping Nervous Dogs Build Trust, Confidence & Calm
Trips to the vet or groomer don’t have to be scary. Whether your dog already finds these places overwhelming, or you simply want to prevent anxiety from developing in the first place, I’m here to help.
My training is all about building trust, offering choice, and creating positive experiences – so your dog feels safe, seen, and supported every step of the way.

I take a gentle, practical approach to cooperative care, helping your dog:
🐾 Feel safe being touched and handled
🐾 Learn what to expect during vet/grooming routines
🐾 Communicate clearly with “yes” and “not yet” behaviours
🐾 Develop confidence through repetition and rewards
🐾 Build positive associations with equipment, tools, and environments

This is not about forcing your dog to “tolerate” care. It’s about helping them choose to participate – because they know they’re in control.
Let’s work together to help your dog feel calm, confident, and understood.
Why Agency Matters
Many dogs become anxious at the vet or groomer because they feel confused, trapped, or rushed. By giving your dog clear options, consent-based handling, and predictable routines, we teach them that their body is their own – and that good things happen when they’re ready.
With choice and understanding, most dogs relax naturally – and even begin to enjoy what once made them nervous.
My Co-operative Care Training Is Perfect For:
- Puppies who need a positive start to handling and care
- Nervous or rescue dogs with previous trauma
- Dogs who struggle with nail trims, ear checks, brushing or vet exams
- Anyone who wants to build lifelong trust and confidence in care settings.
My training is:
- Always positive
- Always consent-based
- Always at your dog’s pace
I use marker training, cooperative care games, body language observation, and gradual desensitisation – never force, fear, or pressure.
