Dog Parkour
Dog Parkour is an exciting, low-pressure way to help your dog learn how to think clearly in movement, channel their energy, and build the kind of emotional control that makes everyday life feel easier – for both of you.
For high-energy dogs, parkour provides a brilliant outlet: instead of bouncing off the walls, they get to bounce with purpose. Through climbing, balancing, exploring, and pausing, dogs learn how to stay connected even when they’re excited, building both physical and emotional confidence as they go.
And for nervous or less confident pups? Parkour creates gentle, achievable challenges that build them up at their own pace. Each small success – hopping onto a log, stepping through a ladder, or choosing to try something new – becomes a win that teaches your dog: “I can do hard things.”

Above all, parkour is just plain fun. It turns the world into an adventure playground, where your dog gets to move their body, use their brain, and feel amazing doing it – with you right by their side, cheering them on.
Dog Parkour for High-Energy Dogs
Movement Meets Mindfulness for Dogs Who Can’t Sit Still
If your dog treats every walk like an obstacle course, turns every bench into a launch pad, or just can’t seem to stop moving – you’re not alone. High-energy dogs thrive when they have something to do with all that bounce and buzz.
My Dog Parkour classes give them exactly that: a structured, fun, and focused outlet for energy that also teaches them to slow down, think clearly, and move with purpose – even when the world is full of distractions.
This isn’t just exercise. It’s real-life training for dogs who are always “on.”
Why Parkour for High-Energy Dogs?
Dog parkour is the perfect blend of physical activity and mental challenge. It’s an ideal way to help energetic dogs:
- Learn to pause before moving
- Channel excitement into thoughtful action and structured movement
- Build body awareness and focus
- Develop impulse control and decision-making
- Practice staying calm in stimulating environments
- Feel confident and connected to their human
- Get mentally and physically tired – in the best way
This isn’t about “wearing them out” – it’s about teaching them how to regulate themselves in the spaces they actually live and walk in.
What We Work On
Every session is designed to meet your dog where they’re at – and help them grow. Every class is built around balancing energy with structure. We focus on:
- Controlled movement with intention, not just momentum: pause, assess, act
- Learning to wait, take turns, and stay present
- Re-engagement skills in the face of distractions
- Handling frustration when something is new or tricky
- Working with you as a team
- Practicing self-regulation in exciting environments
- Rest and reset routines to avoid over-arousal
We keep things positive, supportive, and low-pressure, with loads of praise and play. Your dog doesn’t have to “nail it” – they just need to try.
Class Options:
Indoor Classes
Perfect for dogs who need consistent, calm structure. Indoor environments are low-distraction and predictable, helping your dog build solid skills without overstimulation.
- Each dog works in their own area
- Plenty of built-in breaks to practice settling
- Simple obstacles and creative exercises for focus + fun
- Small group size for individual attention
When: Tuesday evenings
Where: Pawseidon Canine Rehab Centre, Poole
Duration: 1 hour
Outdoor Classes
Confidence & Control—One Step (or Jump) at a Time
For three sessions out of each four-week block, we work in my training field in West Parley. You’ll learn how to turn everyday situations into opportunities for learning and calm focus.
- Small group setting with each dog working in their own area
- Clear boundaries and routines to reduce over-arousal
- Playful structure that keeps energy productive
- Built-in breaks to help dogs regulate and reset
Then every fourth week, we meet in a local park, trail, or urban space to explore and train together. This is the chance for your dog to practice emotional regulation in the “real world.” New smells, textures, and sights = fresh challenges – and real growth.
- Navigate benches, logs, rocks, and stairs
- Fresh environments each week for real-life generalization
- Learn to stay connected with you outdoors
- Practice impulse control in novel environments
- Great confidence boost for both of you
Perfect for: Dogs who struggle to focus outdoors, overreact to stimulation, or just need help learning how to move through the world without losing their cool.
When: Saturday mornings
Where: West Parley
Duration: 1 hour

What Changes You’ll See
With regular parkour training, high-energy dogs begin to:
- Make better decisions when excited
- Reconnect with you faster after distractions
- Walk with more purpose and less pulling
- Settle more easily after activity
- Build confidence without chaos
- Become more responsive, less reactive
- Enjoy working with you, not just around you
- Feel proud of themselves for thinking before leaping
This isn’t just physical enrichment – it’s emotional growth.
And best of all? They love it. You’ll see their eyes light up when they realise calm and focus get them more of what they want – not less.
Your Dog Doesn’t Need to Be “Less” – Just More In Tune
With the right outlet and a little guidance, high-energy dogs can learn to move through the world with confidence, control, and joy.
Dog Parkour For Nervous Dogs
Dog parkour offers a safe, low-impact way for dogs to build confidence through movement, exploring their surroundings with curiosity, creativity, and control. It’s not about doing it fast or fancy – it’s about doing it in their own time with plenty of encouragement, small wins, and positive reinforcement along the way.

- Gradually generalise new confidence to real-world settings

Private Sessions: One-to-One Confidence Coaching
Prefer a more personalized approach? My private parkour sessions are ideal for dogs who are especially sensitive, reactive, or just not ready for a group setting. I’ll tailor each session to your dog’s exact needs, focusing on:
- Slow, stress-free exploration
- Custom obstacle choices based on your dog’s current comfort level
- Building trust and teamwork between you and your dog
- Developing transferable confidence for walks, outings, and new environments
Sessions held at your home or a quiet outdoor or indoor location.
Great for: Shy dogs, reactive dogs, or those who thrive in calm one-on-one work

Why Parkour for Nervous Dogs?
Confidence is built in small steps – and parkour is full of them. Each time your dog conquers a new object, even if it’s just a sniff or a paw touch, they’re gaining courage that transfers to the real world. Park benches, curbs, low walls, grassy slopes – they all become part of a playful, empowering experience your dog looks forward to.
Your Dog Will Learn:
- How to approach novelty with curiosity, not fear
- How to use their body in controlled, confidence-building ways
- How to navigate the world with a greater sense of calm and capability
- How to trust themselves – and you – in new situations
Let’s Build Their Bravery, Step by Step
Whether in a small group or one-on-one, we’ll help your dog celebrate small wins, explore at their own pace, and carry their new confidence out into the world.
