About me

Hi, I’m Alex Gosney – and these are my two rescue dogs, Freya and Pepper, and my horse, Kia. Animals have always been at the heart of my life, and over the past 25 years, I’ve dedicated myself to training and rehabilitating both dogs and horses. Now, I’m passionate about using that experience to help you and your dog build the kind of partnership that feels easy, connected, and fun.

I hold an honours degree in Equine Science and I’m a certified dog trainer through the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT). I also hold an OCN Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Dog Training and Behaviour. Alongside that, I’m an accredited Barn Hunt instructor with Barn Hunt UK, a Kids Around Dogs approved professional, trained in canine first aid, and DBS checked.

You may have seen me in action at major UK events such as DogFest the All About Dogs Show, and the Dorset Spring Show, where I’ve delivered live demonstrations and educational talks.

But beyond the qualifications, what really matters to me is helping you and your dog understand each other. My goal is to support you in building a solid, trusting relationship based on communication and teamwork. I believe training should be a collaborative journey, where both you and your dog have a voice and feel like equal partners in the process.

Your dog’s emotional state matters more than ticking off a list of behaviours. Whether they’re feeling excited, anxious, unsure, or curious, those feelings deserve to be acknowledged and respected. By tuning into how your dog feels and responding with empathy, we create a safer, more supportive space – one where real growth can happen.

My approach is rooted in three key values:

  • Teamwork – You and your dog are a team, learning and growing together to build confidence, trust and connection.

  • Communication – Training is a two-way conversation. Understanding your dog’s body language and emotions helps you build trust and strengthens the bond between you.
  • Agency – Dogs thrive when they have choice and a sense of control. We create space for them to make decisions and feel empowered.

Working with me means your dog will be given space to think, explore, and express themselves. We’ll use play, puzzles, and enriching activities to boost focus, reduce frustration, and build calm confidence. The result? A deeper bond, a happier dog, and training that feels rewarding for both of you.

If you and your dog are ready to form the ultimate team, send me a message—I’d love to help you get started on this journey together.
