Inspiring, Educational, and Fun for Dogs and Their People

At the Active Instincts Dog Training Academy, I love sharing the joy and science of instinct-based training – not just with dog owners, but with trainers, behaviourists, and enthusiasts across the UK. Whether it’s a national show, a professional seminar, or a local community event, my sessions are designed to educate, inspire, and celebrate the incredible ways dogs think, feel, and learn.

I bring a blend of real-world experience, engaging teaching, and hands-on interaction, helping audiences see how harnessing a dog’s natural instincts can transform behaviour, build confidence, and strengthen the human–dog bond.

Experience at Major UK Dog Events

I’ve been fortunate to present and feature at some of the UK’s biggest and most respected dog events – and to share my work on local radio, discussing modern, positive training approaches with a wider audience.

🐾 DogFest – delivering engaging seminars, interactive demos, and have-a-go activities for dog lovers across the country
🐾 All About Dogs Show – showcasing fun, practical ways to channel a dog’s energy and instincts into focus and calm
🐾 Kids Around Dogs – promoting safe, positive, and confidence-building interactions between children and dogs
🐾 Local Charity and Community Events – supporting rescues and community groups through demonstrations, enrichment sessions, and Q&A talks
🐾 Local Radio Features – sharing expert insights on dog behaviour, instinct-based training, and building stronger human–dog partnerships

From main-ring demonstrations to smaller seminar tents (and radio interviews!), I tailor every session to the audience and environment – keeping things educational, inclusive, and always enjoyable.

Demonstrations That Bring Training to Life

I offer live demonstrations and have-a-go sessions in:

  • Dog Parkour – helping dogs build confidence, body awareness, and problem-solving skills through movement and exploration
  • Barn Hunt – tapping into scenting instincts in a rewarding, confidence-boosting search game
  • Treibball – one of the newest dog sports to reach the UK, where dogs channel their herding instincts into teamwork, focus, and fun
  • Kids’ Dog Training Classes – safe, positive, and engaging sessions for children to learn about training and canine body language

Each demo showcases how instinct-based, choice-led training turns energy and curiosity into confidence, focus, and teamwork.

I can also set up have-a-go areas at events, giving visitors the chance to experience these activities first-hand – an interactive highlight that dogs and handlers love.

Seminars for Dog Owners and Professionals

Alongside demonstrations, I offer seminars and educational sessions for both dog owners and training professionals. These can be tailored to public audiences, professional development events, or online webinars.

Example Topics Include:

“Fun, Games & a Bit of Controlled Chaos: Training That Works in Real Life” – A lively look at how games-based training builds focus, confidence, and calm in everyday situations.

“The Job Your Dog Never Quit: Channelling Instincts for Better Behaviour” – Exploring how dogs’ natural drives influence behaviour, and how giving those instincts purpose can prevent or resolve challenges.

“Little Trainers, Big Results: Dog Training Classes for Kids Made Easy” – An educational talk for dog trainers, focusing on how to teach kids’ dog training classes.

Other popular topics include:

  • Building confidence in nervous or sensitive dogs
  • Teamwork and agency in training
  • Emotional regulation and self-control for high-energy breeds
  • Co-operative care for stress-free vet and grooming visits
  • Enrichment and play for happier, calmer dogs

Every seminar blends insight, humour, and practical takeaway tips – leaving audiences motivated, informed, and inspired to build stronger partnerships with their dogs.

Specialisms

I specialise in working with:

  • High-energy and working breed dogs – helping them find calm through structure, focus, and meaningful outlets for their drive
  • Nervous or sensitive dogs – building trust and confidence through gentle, choice-led training
  • Co-operative care and handling – teaching dogs to participate willingly in vet or grooming routines

These themes often feature in my seminars and demos, showing how understanding a dog’s instincts and emotions creates lasting behavioural change.
